🟠 CFTC “carve-out” case against Gemini, wants to cancel the fine $5M

📌 CFTC and Gemini request the court to cancel the settlement agreement in the 2022 lawsuit. Previously, Gemini was accused of providing false information related to Bitcoin futures contracts and agreed to pay a fine $5M in January 2025.
📌 After review, the CFTC believes this lawsuit may not have been appropriate to file under current enforcement standards. If the court approves, Gemini will be released from remaining obligations in the settlement agreement.
📌With Trump’s support, the CFTC is being positioned at the center of crypto regulation in the US (replacing the SEC), while the White House’s stance on digital assets has become much more open.
